M16 Rifle and 77 Rounds Seized in Clarendon, Three in Custody

Police found an M16 rifle and over 70 rounds of ammunition at a Denbigh property during an early-morning operation. Three suspects were arrested.

Weapons cache uncovered in Havana Heights, Denbigh

Jamaica-gleaner.com reports that police in Clarendon seized an M16 rifle and more than 70 rounds of ammunition during a targeted operation in Havana Heights, Denbigh, on Tuesday, arresting three people in the process.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., officers from the Specialised Operations Branch, the Search Centre, and the Canine Division acted on intelligence and moved in on a premises in the community.

Inside an abandoned pig pen, officers recovered an M16 rifle, a magazine, and a bottle containing 45 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.

A subsequent search of a car parked on the property turned up an extended 9mm magazine loaded with 32 rounds, bringing the total ammunition count to 77 rounds.

Three individuals were arrested following the discovery. Their identities are being withheld while investigations continue.
