Man Known as 'Tuffman' Shot Dead by Police in Spanish Town, St Catherine

A man alias 'Tuffman' was fatally shot by police during a search warrant operation in Shelter Rock, Spanish Town. The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe.

Police Kill 'Tuffman' During Shelter Rock Search Operation

A man known by the alias 'Tuffman', of a Jones Pen, Spanish Town address, was shot and killed by police in Shelter Rock, St Catherine on Sunday morning, jamaica-gleaner.com reports.

According to the police, officers armed with a search warrant arrived at a premises in the area at approximately 6:50 a.m. The man was identified as a person of interest in a number of crimes in the St Catherine North division.

As the team advanced toward the dwelling, the door opened and then suddenly shut. Officers entered the premises and, during the search, the occupant allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers. After taking evasive action, he was shot.

He was found clutching a gun — later retrieved and identified as a .38 revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition. The injured man was transported to the nearby Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has since launched a probe into the incident.
