Man Shot Dead by Police in Bog Walk After Alleged Uzi Confrontation

Bog Walk Shooting: Police Kill Armed Suspect, Uzi Recovered
A 35-year-old man was shot and killed by police during an operation in the High Mountain district of Bog Walk, St Catherine, early Wednesday morning, jamaica-gleaner.com reports.
The deceased has been identified as Dywane Edwards, also known as 'Night Time', a resident of the area. An Uzi submachine gun was seized from him following the incident.
According to police, a team arrived at the location around 5:00 a.m. to conduct a planned operation. Officers entered a premises and approached a one-room dwelling occupied by Edwards, who was suspected of being in possession of illegal firearms.
As the team advanced, Edwards allegedly pointed a gun at the officers and discharged it. The police returned fire, and Edwards was struck during the exchange. He was found clutching a loaded firearm when he fell.
Edwards was transported to Linstead Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Independent Commission of Investigations has since launched a probe into the circumstances of the shooting.
