North Central St Andrew MP Delano Seiveright is calling for a thorough probe into the September 16 shooting death of Shane Castleton by police.

Delano Seiveright, Member of Parliament for North Central St Andrew, has called for a thorough, impartial and timely investigation into the fatal police shooting of 35-year-old Shane Castleton, according to jamaica-gleaner.com. Castleton was shot on September 16 on Karl Samuda Avenue — commonly known as Black Ants Lane, off Red Hills Road.

Seiveright raised the matter on Monday during a meeting with Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) Commissioner Hugh Faulkner and other senior officials at the commission's New Kingston head office.

He also urged anyone with video footage or other relevant information to come forward. "The family and community want justice. I strongly encourage witnesses to cooperate with INDECOM. Anyone who witnessed or have relevant information will be fully protected," Seiveright said, adding that he intends to monitor the investigation closely.

Residents in the area staged a protest following the shooting, alleging that Castleton had been under medical care at the time. They challenged the police's account of the circumstances surrounding his death.
