Pitchfork murder suspect remanded in St Catherine, case file still incomplete

St Catherine farmer held again as murder documents remain outstanding

Jamaica-gleaner.com reports that St Catherine farmer Peter Fable, 36, was remanded once more when he appeared before Parish Judge Genetta Smikle at the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.

Fable faces a murder charge in connection with the death of Mario Sewell, 33, of Bois Content, Old Harbour, St Catherine. Prosecutors allege he used a pitchfork to kill Sewell, who worked as a bus driver.

The case could not proceed because the file remains incomplete. Missing documents include the post-mortem report, the Scene of Crime statement, and a statement from a Justice of the Peace who is currently off the island.

Fable was ordered to return on October 27 for case management mentions.

According to the allegations, at around 10:00 pm on July 1, Sewell was walking when Fable approached him and told him he had "something" for him. Fable then allegedly stabbed Sewell repeatedly in the chest and face with a pitchfork.

Sewell was taken to May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Fable reportedly fled the scene after the attack. He was apprehended the following day during a police operation in the community and was subsequently arrested and charged after a question-and-answer session with investigators.
