The operation began at around 5:15 am on Friday, when a JCF Special Operations Unit team moved into the Five Miles area of Sligoville to search for wanted men. While clearing a building on the premises, officers came under gunfire from two men who had barricaded themselves inside the structure alongside other occupants. A young girl present in the building also reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange.
