Security guard killed in St Catherine stabbing, ex-boyfriend on the run
A 39-year-old female security guard was fatally stabbed in Old Harbour, St Catherine, in the early hours of Saturday morning, in what police suspect was an act of domestic violence, jamaica-gleaner.com reports.
The victim has been identified as Patricia Dennis, of Hawk Lane, Bullet Tree District. Investigators say Dennis and the suspect had been in a romantic relationship that broke down due to repeated arguments.
At around 1:30 a.m., Dennis returned home from a wake when the suspect appeared and attempted to force his way inside. An argument broke out, and Dennis left the property and walked to the nearby home of the suspect's mother to raise the alarm.
The suspect pursued her there and allegedly stabbed her multiple times — to the neck, abdomen and upper body — with a knife. He then reportedly brandished a firearm before fleeing into bushes in the vicinity.
A relative rushed Dennis to the Spanish Town General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police from the Old Harbour division have launched a manhunt for the suspect, described as her former boyfriend. No arrest had been made at the time of reporting.
