St Andrew man charged with murder over bath pan dispute in Kingston

Antonio Smith, 24, has been charged with the murder of Tristan Parkes after a dispute over a bath pan turned fatal in Donmair Close, Kingston.

The Jamaica Observer reports that a 24-year-old St Andrew man has been charged with the murder of Tristan Parkes, 28, of Donmair Close, Kingston.

The accused, Antonio Smith — also known as "Rajay" — is a labourer from the same community as the victim.

According to the Constant Spring police, Parkes and Smith became involved in a dispute over a bath pan on Thursday, August 20. Residents intervened and appeared to settle the matter, but Smith allegedly left the area, returned with a knife from his home, and attacked Parkes again.

During the second altercation, Smith allegedly stabbed Parkes in the chest. Parkes was transported to hospital but was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention.

Smith subsequently turned himself in to police and was arrested and charged following a caution statement and a question-and-answer interview. His court date is being finalised.
