A 32-year-old taxi operator is in police custody after officers allegedly recovered an illegal firearm at his residence during a targeted operation in Pear Hill District, Stony Hill, St Andrew, on Wednesday morning, jamaica-gleaner.com reports.

The suspect, identified as Kevon Beckford — also known as 'Fago' — had been sought by St Andrew North police as a person of interest in a wounding with intent case. Authorities also believe Beckford was involved in various criminal activities in Stony Hill and surrounding communities.

Officers conducted the targeted operation early Wednesday, locating Beckford at the premises and searching his home. A grey .38 revolver with its serial number erased was allegedly found and seized. Beckford was arrested and subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

The St Andrew North police said the seizure brings to 23 the total number of firearms recovered in the division since the start of the year.

Separately, police are also seeking the public's help in locating Kenroy Willis, known as 'Papa', who is wanted for murder.
