Taxi man killed in Nain, one gunman shot dead by police

The Jamaica Observer reports that a taxi operator was shot dead in Nain, St Elizabeth on Wednesday afternoon after two men who had posed as passengers opened fire on him before fleeing the vehicle.

Police identified the victim as Rohan Hill, 48, who operated along the Mandeville to Junction route.

Shortly before 5:00 pm, the two gunmen discharged their weapons at Hill and then abandoned the taxi at Nain.

A joint police-military operation was already active in the area when one of the suspects confronted security forces — he was fatally shot.

A manhunt is ongoing for his accomplice, with soldiers and police deployed across the surrounding area.
