A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 64-year-old domestic helper Hyacinth Rose Johnson, according to jamaica-gleaner.com. Johnson's body was found face down behind her home in Union District, near Frankfield, Clarendon, on the morning of July 1.

Residents made the discovery around 7:00 am after growing concerned over her unexplained absence. Johnson had last been seen at church on Sunday but failed to appear at a prayer meeting on Tuesday, prompting neighbours to check on her.

Police say Johnson had suffered stab wounds to the chest. Investigators believe she was killed at the teenager's home before her body was moved to the rear of her own property.

The suspect, identified by police as Johnson's neighbour, was arrested over the weekend and interviewed by detectives on Monday. During that interview, he reportedly confessed to the killing.

He was subsequently charged with murder. A court date is being finalised. The circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation.
