Second arrest in Fagersta sword attack that killed schoolgirl and wounded three
A second person has been arrested as an accomplice in a sword attack at a Swedish high school that left one student dead and three others wounded.

A second person has been arrested in connection with last Friday's sword attack at the Brinell school in Fagersta, central Sweden, RTÉ News reports, citing Swedish prosecutors.
The prosecution authority confirmed the individual is "suspected of being an accomplice to murder and attempted murder in Fagersta on August 21," though no further details about the suspect were provided.
An 18-year-old student, identified in court documents as Liam Nebel, was already in custody on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. A 17-year-old girl was killed in the attack, and three boys were wounded — two of them, aged between 12 and 17, remain in serious condition in hospital.
Police had initially stated they had no reason to believe multiple perpetrators were involved. Officers have also said they are working to establish a motive for the attack.
A TikTok account reportedly belonging to the attacker was under police investigation, according to Swedish media. The account has since been taken down. AFP viewed it before deletion and found several videos glorifying school attacks. The final post showed a photograph of a sword on a floor, which Sweden's main daily Dagens Nyheter identified as a Brinell school bathroom.
Witnesses told media that the perpetrator wore a helmet and dark clothing while carrying a sword — details that drew comparisons to a school attack in Trollhättan in October 2015, in which a 21-year-old killed three people in a racially motivated assault. That attacker had worn black clothing, a Darth Vader-style mask and a German World War II helmet.
