416kg Cocaine Found in Backhoe Tyres at Longdenville Warehouse, Three Arrested

Trinidad police seized 416.5kg of cocaine hidden in backhoe tyres during an intelligence-led operation in Longdenville. A British Virgin Islands businessman and two Saint Lucians were detained.

Trinidad and Tobago police have seized 416.5 kilogrammes of cocaine with an estimated street value of TT$193.5 million, according to jamaica-gleaner.com. The drugs were found concealed inside four large backhoe tyres at a warehouse along Pokhor Road, Longdenville.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the operation was intelligence-led and carried out between Wednesday and Thursday in the Longdenville Police District. Officers searched a residence, warehouse and surrounding compound under Section 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026, having initially focused enquiries on the suspected concealment of illegal firearms and narcotics at the premises.

Inside the warehouse, officers located six large backhoe tyres mounted on rims. A closer examination of four of the tyres revealed rectangular packages hidden within. A total of 420 packages were recovered.

Three individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure: a 42-year-old businessman from the British Virgin Islands and two Saint Lucian nationals, aged 38 and 37. The seized cocaine was transferred to the Special Investigations Unit in Port of Spain, while the three detained persons were taken to the St Joseph Police Station pending further enquiries.

The TTPS confirmed that investigations are continuing.
