According to thenews.com.pk, Trinidad and Tobago's Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander drew a striking parallel to the Tupac Shakur murder case while addressing reporters outside Parliament in Port of Spain — citing the rap legend's decades-long legal saga to signal that the alleged plot against Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar remains an open matter.

Three individuals were arrested in connection with the alleged assassination plot: Star Sabga, her niece Genevieve Hadeed, and Genevieve's husband Dominic Hadeed. Authorities detained them under Preventive Detention Orders — a power that does not require formal charges — issued by the government. All three have since been released.

High Court Justice Vigel Paul placed Sabga on house arrest following her release from prison, citing a lack of evidence. Alexander subsequently revoked her Preventive Detention Order, freeing her entirely. He had earlier revoked the Hadeeds' orders following a recommendation by the Constitution Review Tribunal, taking into account their medical and legal circumstances.

Despite signing off on those revocations himself, Alexander used the Shakur case to push back against any suggestion the investigation is closed.

"You remember Tupac Shakur? Tupac Shakur was shot in 1996, and the person was only charged this year. That's how investigations go. It's not over till it's over," he told reporters.

Shakur was fatally shot on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas. For nearly three decades, no one faced criminal charges in connection with his death. In 2023, Duane "Keefe D" Davis was charged, and a jury this month found him guilty in the killing.

Alexander's remarks indicate that, despite the release of all three suspects, authorities have not closed the file on the alleged plot against the Prime Minister.
