Former Trinidad Officers Face Murder Charge Over 2014 Killing

Two former police officers in Trinidad have been arrested and charged with the murder of Davindra Siewdass, 29, in connection with an incident dating back to March 2014, jamaica-gleaner.com reports.

According to a police statement, the case began on Wednesday, March 20, 2014, when officers responded to a reported kidnapping and conducted a search at a property in Princes Town, in south-central Trinidad. Approximately 345 feet from the premises, investigators found what appeared to be burnt debris in a nearby area.

Based on advice received last Friday from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Lyndon Brown, 40, and Jesse Burke, 40, were formally charged with Siewdass's murder.

Both men have since appeared before a magistrate's court. The matter was adjourned to April 7, 2027, for a status hearing, with a sufficiency hearing scheduled for April 21, 2027.

Police noted that three other men had also been arrested and detained in connection with the murder in 2014. Investigations into the case are continuing.
