Bus driver attacked and thrown off vehicle in Telford — man charged

A man has been charged after a bus driver was attacked and thrown off his vehicle in Madeley, Telford. The bus then collided with several other vehicles.

Ali Balhad, 33, has been charged with a series of offences after a bus driver was allegedly attacked and thrown off his vehicle in Court Street, Madeley, Telford, The Independent reports.

West Mercia Police received the call at around 6.37pm on Friday. The bus subsequently ploughed into several other vehicles.

Paramedics treated the driver for minor injuries at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.

Balhad faces charges of aggravated vehicle taking, assault, attempted grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, robbery, theft from a store, threats to kill, and three counts of criminal damage.

Police said Balhad is a Yemeni national who is believed to have been in the Telford area for approximately one week. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Telford Magistrates' Court on Monday.
