A 74-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were taken to hospital following an alleged hit-and-run on Lawn Street in Paisley on Saturday, 19 September, glasgowlive.co.uk reports.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9am. Both casualties received hospital treatment; their conditions have not been confirmed.

According to Police Scotland, the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle left the scene after the collision. Officers traced him a short time later and he was arrested in connection with the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.10am on Saturday, 19 September, 2026, we were called to a report of a hit and run crash on Lawn Street in Paisley. Emergency services attended and a 74-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were taken to hospital for treatment. The 22-year-old male driver of the car which left the scene was traced by police a short time later and he was arrested in connection."

Police say enquiries are ongoing.
