Ashford Man Avoids Jail After Pleading Guilty to Attack on Lindsay Shiver

An Alabama man has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence after a July 2024 altercation with Lindsay Shiver — the Houston County woman facing charges in an alleged murder-for-hire plot in the Bahamas.

Dorsey Ryan Love entered the plea under a negotiated agreement finalized September 23, according to court records cited by wtvy.com. A judge sentenced Love to a 12-month suspended jail sentence, avoiding a trial that had been scheduled for this week.

Dothan police arrested Love following an alleged attack at a residence on Cherokee Avenue. He originally faced a felony strangulation charge.

Court filings requesting a protection-from-abuse order detail Shiver's allegations: Love shoved her onto a bed, choked her, attempted to suffocate her with a pillow, and threatened to kill her. Shiver also stated that Love had abused her during an earlier out-of-state trip that was never reported to law enforcement.

Shiver gained international attention after Bahamian authorities charged her with conspiring alongside two men to murder her estranged husband, Georgia businessman Robert Shiver. Weeks after her arrest in Nassau, a judge granted her bond, allowing her to return to Alabama. Court records indicate she subsequently entered into a relationship with Love.

Shiver currently resides in central Alabama while awaiting a trial date in the Bahamas case. Two Bahamian men — one identified as another of Shiver's purported romantic partners — also remain awaiting trial on charges they participated in the alleged plot to kill her husband.
