According to 721news Sint Maarten, two suspicious packages were discovered near the beach at Cave of Rum Bay on Saba on Tuesday, September 22. A member of the public reported the find to police without delay, and officers moved in to seize the packages.
A field test carried out on site indicated that the contents tested positive for cocaine. The confiscated narcotics were subsequently handed over to the detective department for further investigation.
The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) credited observant citizens for the swift report. Anyone who spots suspicious packages on a beach or along the coastline is urged not to touch them and to contact police immediately via 911 or the anonymous tip line at 9310.
In a separate incident on Sint Eustatius, a 40-year-old man identified by the initials C.N.R.M. was arrested on Kapelweg on Monday, September 21, at around 7:20 PM. He is suspected of making death threats. The investigation into that case is ongoing.
