Firearms, cash and ammunition seized from vessel at Bimini port

Eight Americans have been arrested in the Bahamas after Royal Bahamas Police Force officers discovered 14 firearms, ammunition, and a considerable sum of undeclared cash aboard a boat docked at a Bimini port, abcnews4.com reports.

Officers from the Alice Town Police Station, working alongside the Bahamas Customs Department, searched the vessel following an intelligence tip, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF). The specifics of that intelligence have not been made public.

Among the weapons found were three described as "high-powered," alongside 11 additional firearms. All weapons, ammunition, and cash were confiscated by law enforcement.

Ten people in total were taken into custody — eight Americans, one South African, and one Guyanese national. Those arrested ranged in age from 21 to 62 years old. The identities of the individuals have not been released.

The RBPF confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.

Bimini is a chain of islands in the westernmost part of the Bahamas, making it the country's closest point to the continental United States.
