Loaded handgun and fentanyl seized from Kingston accommodation
A 28-year-old Kingston resident faces multiple criminal charges after officers uncovered a loaded firearm, drugs and prohibited weapons at a local accommodation establishment last week, inquinte.ca reports.
Members of the Kingston Police Special Services Unit launched the investigation following intelligence about suspected illegal firearm possession. Officers executed a search warrant at the premises on Thursday, October 15.
The search yielded a loaded handgun, ammunition, a prohibited weapon, and quantities of illicit drugs — including fentanyl intended for trafficking.
The accused was charged with a total of several Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences. These include eight counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition while prohibited, three counts of unauthorised possession of a restricted firearm or weapon, two counts each of breach of probation and careless storage of a firearm or ammunition, and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
The individual was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.
Kingston Police said the investigation reflects the force's ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal firearms activity and dangerous drug trafficking within the community.
