Maya Gebala, who survived the mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, has been discharged from B.C. Children's Hospital — 262 days after she was airlifted there, cp24.com reports.

Her father, David Gebala, announced the news in a social media post on Thursday. "There was never a day I stopped believing we would get here," he wrote. "The road ahead is still long, but this is a milestone no one thought we would reach."

David described his daughter as "the bravest person I know" and shared a video of Maya reacting to the news that she would be going home. "Look at you, my girl. You blew every expectation out of the water," he wrote.

His post detailed multiple surgeries and serious setbacks during her prolonged stay, alongside the milestones she reached — among them the moment she breathed on her own, opened her eyes and spoke for the first time since the shooting.

"Thank you to the incredible nurses, doctors, and therapists who walked every step of this with us," David wrote. "Now it's time to leave these hospital walls behind and keep moving forward."

The shooting took place on Feb. 10, when an 18-year-old gunman killed six people inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and two family members at a separate location before dying of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
