Two arrested over shooting at Kapil Sharma's Surrey café
Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma's restaurant in Surrey, British Columbia, ndtv.com reports.
Pardeep Singh and Saveer Khan, both 22, were taken into custody on November 1 by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The arrests follow a shooting on October 16, 2025, at the café on the 8400-block of 120 Street — the third such incident at the establishment since it opened in July. Two employees were inside at the time, but neither was injured; the business was closed to customers.
The two suspects have also been charged in connection with a separate shooting that occurred on October 12 in Surrey. In that incident, shots were fired at a residential address and a woman was injured. Both men each face one count of reckless discharge of a firearm for the October 12 incident and an additional count for the October 16 incident.
The RCMP described both shootings as extortion-related. The BC Extortion Task Force assumed oversight of the investigations after investigators identified potential links between the two incidents.
Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, Lower Mainland District Operations Officer and Assistant District Commander, credited extensive work over the past year for the charges. "These charges are the result of extensive investigative work conducted over the past year, including multiple judicial authorisations, search warrants, and detailed analysis of evidence," Pound said, as quoted by the RCMP.
Pound added that the case sends a broader signal to those involved in extortion-related violence. "These charges should serve as another clear message to those involved in extortion-related violence that law enforcement is working collaboratively to ensure public safety," he said.
