Four men facing accusations of homicide and financial crimes in Pakistan were taken into custody in the UAE capital through a joint operation between the two nations' Interpol offices, Arab News reported.
Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency disclosed on Sunday that the arrests resulted from close coordination between its own Interpol bureau and the one based in Abu Dhabi. Punjab Police had been searching for the four men for their alleged involvement in killings and fraudulent financial schemes.
Cases against the men had been opened in Faisalabad and Sargodha, two cities in Pakistan's Punjab province. The agency's National Central Bureau had previously circulated Red Notices calling for their arrest. Once apprehended in the Emirates, the individuals were flown to Lahore and handed over to Punjab Police by immigration officers.
Interpol connects police forces across 196 nations through secure channels, allowing countries to exchange criminal intelligence and request assistance. Each member state maintains a National Central Bureau that links domestic agencies to this global network.
This case adds to a series of operations in which Pakistani authorities have worked with Interpol to track down and extradite suspects who fled abroad to avoid facing charges.
