Diego Rosen Ferlini (51), the Argentine businessman detained in Mexico for the murder of his business partner Jonathan Meléndez (38) and his entire family on the Mexico-Toluca highway, had accumulated at least eleven fraud complaints, according to reporting by canal26.com in recent hours.
Rosen Ferlini was the owner of Nomad Adventures, a company dedicated to selling tourist experiences at various locations in Mexico, a country where he had been living for several years. The accusations, published on social media, are linked to accommodation packages that the company offered without delivering the promised service.
In one account, a user reported having paid thousands of Mexican pesos for a stay at a hotel in Valle de Bravo without receiving lodging. The same person indicated that eleven other people had been defrauded under the same scheme.
Another case involves a woman who paid 400,000 Mexican pesos for a cabin in Acapulco, paid in advance. When the time came to receive the keys, Rosen Ferlini stopped responding.
The complaints apparently were not limited to the digital sphere. The General Prosecutor's Office of the State of Mexico was investigating the businessman for irregularities in tourist rentals. According to the Agencia Noticias Argentinas news agency, the judicial authorities had even requested an arrest warrant against him before the massacre, although it had not been carried out because Rosen Ferlini had 15 days of legal protection.
Meléndez, the victim, was the detainee's business partner in holiday home rental businesses and also worked as a music producer for the band Camilo Séptimo. On the night of the crime, which occurred on Tuesday in the early morning hours, he was accompanied by his wife Ana Paula Barragán (35), pregnant with their fourth month, a three-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old domestic employee.
A security camera at the building located in Atizapán de Zaragoza recorded Rosen Ferlini's entry into the residence with another individual identified as Gerardo "N". Both entered without arousing suspicion, taking advantage of the trust they had with the residents, according to a statement made by a guard at the location.
Initial forensic examinations determined that the bodies of Meléndez and his wife showed severe signs of violence. The three-year-old girl and the domestic employee had bullet wounds. A six-year-old boy who survived the attack was also found in the residence and was placed in the custody of the authorities.
