In the early hours of Sunday, police personnel detained a 29-year-old youth who was caught while carrying out spray-painted graffiti on the front of the headquarters of the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA), located in the Balvanera neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.

The arrest took place when security officers detected the individual in the act of vandalising the building's facade. During the procedure, the officers seized six cans of spray paint that he was carrying.

The police intervention took place at the headquarters of the organisation located in the Balvanera neighbourhood, one of the most central zones in the City of Buenos Aires. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the courts for the offence of aggravated damage against a place of historical and cultural importance.

The AMIA is one of the most important community organisations of the Jewish community in Argentina, and its headquarters was the site of the terrorist attack that occurred on 18 July 1994, which caused the death of 85 people and resulted in hundreds of injured. For this reason, any act of vandalism against its facilities acquires a particularly sensitive dimension.
