A resident of Media Agua thwarted a robbery at his home in Sarmiento department on Saturday at 5 p.m. after detecting an intruder in real time through security cameras on his mobile phone, according to sanjuan8.com.
The property owner was driving his grey Dodge Ram truck when he reviewed the images and observed a stranger walking inside the property, located on National Route 40, approximately 500 metres from a police checkpoint of the D-7 Direction of the Highway Police.
The man stopped in front of the officers who were conducting a routine vehicle control in front of the post and requested help immediately. The officers travelled to the location with the property owner and confirmed that the access padlock had been forced.
Upon noticing the arrival of the patrol car, the suspect attempted to flee on foot down Alley 5. The officers initiated a pursuit that extended approximately 300 metres until they managed to intercept him.
The detainee, identified by police sources by the surname Jofré, 35 years old, was carrying various valuable items stolen from the residence. Personnel from the 8th Police Station also participated in the operation. The case was placed under the responsibility of the Flagrancy Prosecution Unit.
