As krone.at reports, investigators at Vienna-Schwechat Airport have once again uncovered drug smuggling from Thailand – within just two days, approximately 55 kilograms of cannabis herb were seized and two suspected couriers were arrested.

On Monday, officers discovered around 37 kilograms of cannabis in two pieces of luggage. The suitcases were transported on a flight from Bangkok to Vienna and were subsequently intended to be sent on to Paris. A 19-year-old French woman was identified and arrested as the suspected courier leader.

Just one day later, investigators struck again: in another suitcase, they discovered around 18 kilograms of cannabis herb. This finding is also connected to a flight from Bangkok – this time destined for London. A 21-year-old British man was identified and arrested as the suspected owner of the suitcase.

Both suspects were transferred to Korneuburg Prison. According to investigators, Bangkok has been regarded for months as a recurring starting point for cannabis transports via Vienna Airport to Europe.
