Unexplained death on car park in Klagenfurt-Mageregg
A male body has been found in a car on the car park at the hunting lodge in Mageregg in the north of Klagenfurt. According to krone.at, the discovery was made approximately a week ago – the case remains unclear.
Shocked witnesses raised the alarm during daylight hours. Several police vehicles with flashing lights and sirens then proceeded to the car park via Feldkirchner Straße, which is regarded as a popular stopping point for commuters and visitors.
The vehicle was unlocked, and the circumstances in which the body was found appeared unusual at first glance. Since the cause of death was not immediately evident even to experienced investigators, the Klagenfurt public prosecutor's office was brought in. "Based on the circumstances, we ordered an autopsy," explained Markus Kitz, spokesman for the prosecution authority.
Kitz emphasised that such a measure is routine in cases of this kind and does not necessarily indicate a crime. "We do not yet have a result from the forensic examination," said Kitz. The authority expects further findings in the coming days. A natural death is just as possible as a criminal case.
The car park in Mageregg has a previous history in Klagenfurt's crime: in 2014, a then 51-year-old man from Globasnitz shot a 53-year-old man from Klagenfurt out of jealousy – with three shots to the head. At that time, intensive investigations also had to be conducted.
Whether the current case involves murder, another criminal offence, or a natural death remains unclear at present.
