The police requested assistance from the fire service on the evening of 28 May for emergency door opening. Inside the house — the second residence of the senior citizen reported missing, according to "Kronen Zeitung" — the body was discovered. Specialist police units and police dogs subsequently searched the premises.
The investigation is proceeding in all directions. According to media reports, social benefits fraud cannot be ruled out: the woman could have died of natural causes years ago and then been encased in concrete in order to continue receiving her pension. "Kronen Zeitung" reports that a search is underway for the pensioner's son, who lives abroad.
