The murder took place in February at Baumgarten cemetery in Vienna. A 14-year-old juvenile at the time attacked a 64-year-old pensioner from behind and killed her – without any prior argument or conflict. The victim did not know the perpetrator. In June, the main perpetrator was sentenced to eight years in prison and additionally committed to a forensic-therapeutic centre.
Now the focus is turning to the convicted woman's former friend. According to the indictment, which was initially reported by "Puls24" and subsequently taken up by the "Krone", the juvenile is alleged to have known about her friend's murderous thoughts. The friend had shared these fantasies with her – and the defendant is alleged to have then "encouraged" her to actually carry out the act.
Details about the relationship between the two came to light during the first trial. The convicted perpetrator described murderous thoughts that had preoccupied her for some time. True crime series, violent videos and films about serial killers were reportedly part of her world, according to statements made during that trial. The main perpetrator further incriminated her former friend during the course of the trial through her testimony – those statements ultimately formed the basis for the now final indictment.
The now-accused was already listed as a suspect before the first trial. After the killing, the main perpetrator photographed the corpse and sent the images to several people – including the now-accused.
At the time of the act, the main perpetrator was living in a social-psychiatric facility. She had acquired the murder weapon shortly before the attack.
Since the second accused was also 14 years old at the time of the act, juvenile criminal law applies. A jury court is therefore not responsible – the case will be heard before a juvenile court with lay judges.
