Drug handover in Favoriten ends with two arrests
During a cocaine handover in Vienna-Favoriten, the Federal Criminal Police arrested two German citizens and seized a total of 2.2 kilograms of cocaine, vol.at reports.
A 49-year-old had demanded 60,000 euros for the drug. Following an initial meeting in the Brigittenau, where the potential buyer was vetted, the seller drove to Columbusgasse in Favoriten. There he picked up a 41-year-old accomplice – also from Germany – who was carrying the cocaine. The two then drove together to the agreed handover location.
When approximately two kilograms of cocaine were handed over, observation officers from the Federal Criminal Police intervened. The 41-year-old attempted to flee in a vehicle and in doing so ran over the foot of one officer; a second police officer sustained a hand injury. Both suspects were nevertheless arrested.
The 49-year-old's hotel room near Vienna's main railway station as well as the 41-year-old's flat were searched. In addition to the cocaine, police secured several mobile phones. Both suspects refused to make statements and were remanded in custody. Investigations into the origin of the drug and possible international connections are ongoing.
