Attack on Gudrunstraße in Vienna-Favoriten

According to Der Standard, a knife attack occurred on Gudrunstraße in Vienna-Favoriten on Friday evening. Three friends aged 23, 30 and 37 were on foot when a group of around 15 unknown men confronted them.

A member of the group punched the 37-year-old in the face. When the 23-year-old intervened to end the altercation, he too was attacked: the attacker knocked out two of his teeth and then stabbed him with a knife. The 23-year-old sustained a stab wound on the thigh and was taken to hospital. The 37-year-old suffered injuries around the upper lip.

The perpetrators fled in different directions following the attack. Police officers provided first aid to the injured until emergency services arrived. An immediate manhunt was initially unsuccessful. According to police, the background to the incident remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
