Salzburg woman dies after robbery – two Romanians remanded in custody

Tragic death following serious assault

An 87-year-old pensioner from Salzburg has died as a result of a robbery. As the Salzburg state prosecutor's office confirmed on Friday, the woman sustained serious head injuries during the robbery in mid-June in her house in the Taxham district, injuries from which she has now died. An autopsy has been ordered.

Acquaintances of the woman visited her after she failed to appear for a scheduled meeting. They found her injured in her flat. According to initial investigations, the robbery had already taken place the day before – the woman was apparently unable to call for help herself afterwards. Family members established that valuables were missing from the flat.

In connection with the robbery, two Romanian nationals are being held in remand custody. Following the death of the 87-year-old, both men are now under investigation on suspicion of robbery with fatal consequences, as today.at reports.
