As wien.orf.at reports, Vienna police have significantly increased their presence in Donaupark following two incidents involving children and have launched investigative measures.
The first incident occurred on 2 April at around 15.45 in the children's playground in Donaupark. A five-year-old girl, who was playing hide-and-seek with a kindergarten group, was approached by an unknown man and asked to go with him. The child immediately informed her supervisors. A search launched immediately proved unsuccessful.
The second incident followed last Friday at around 12.45 near Papstwiese. An unknown man allegedly lured a nine-year-old girl away from her after-school care group and then grabbed her by the neck. When a passer-by noticed the situation, the suspect fled. The girl described him as an older, slender man, approximately 1.80 to 1.90 metres tall, with short brown hair. The child remained uninjured. This search also yielded no results.
The responsible city police precinct has increased patrol services, the police announced in response to an APA inquiry. In addition, the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, North branch, has been activated. According to police, alongside visible measures, steps that have not been publicly communicated have also been taken. The neighbourhood police informed surrounding schools, educational institutions, and catering businesses in Donaupark about the incidents.
