Arrest in Liège following aggravated theft in city-centre shop
On Friday afternoon, a police intervention took place at a textile shop located in central Liège, near the Saint-Lambert Galleries. A young adult was taken into custody following a theft committed with violence.
According to initial findings, the man had concealed several seized items: three shorts, two polo shirts and a pair of sunglasses. As he attempted to leave without paying for his purchases, he displayed aggressive behaviour. Security officers at the shop alerted the police, who arrived quickly at the scene.
The suspect was neutralised without difficulty. During his questioning, it emerged that he was not on police records and that he resides legally in the country. Nevertheless, the nature of the facts justified an expedited procedure. The case will be brought before the magistrate's court through a summons for trial.
