Brussels courts will examine in October the case of modified weapons linked to the attack on 16 October 2023 that killed two Swedish supporters.

A first phase of the criminal case linked to the attack on 16 October 2023 will be examined in October next by the 90th correctional chamber of the capital, according to RTBF.
This first trial concerns three individuals accused of having possessed and attempted to sell alarm pistols converted into semi-automatic firearms. Two of them are represented by lawyers, whilst the third is in default.
Furthermore, two alleged accomplices of the attacker, Abdesalem Lassoued, will appear before the Brussels assize court. Their hearing has not yet been scheduled.
On 16 October 2023, at around 19:00 hours, Lassoued opened fire on Swedish supporters near Place Sainctelette. After targeting a rental vehicle, he pursued his victims into the entrance of a building. Two people lost their lives and another was seriously injured. The attacker subsequently published a claim of responsibility on social media. He was neutralised by gunfire the following day, at around 08:00 in the morning, in an establishment in Schaerbeek.
