During a security patrol on Wednesday 1 July, the Pro A Team of Mons-Quévy police zone came across two individuals whose behaviour attracted attention. Upon further investigation, it emerged that a drug deal had taken place shortly beforehand.
On one of the two, 2.6 grams of cocaine was found. A search of the other person's vehicle yielded five cocaine wraps, 280 euros in cash and a mobile phone.
The detective team continued to develop the case. Both the driver and the vehicle owner were taken into custody. Subsequently, two homes were searched. Both searches were successful: police found narcotics, materials for packaging drugs and additional cash.
In total, police seized 11 grams of cocaine, 725 euros in cash, two mobile phones and a car. Both suspects were brought before an investigating magistrate. One of them was arrested and detained. The other received a formal charge by registered notice. The buyer who was initially checked received a report for drug possession.
Mons-Quévy police zone and the office of the King's Prosecutor in Mons emphasise that this operation is part of their joint commitment to actively counter drug trafficking.
