Knife attack near schools in Liège: man injures rival in front of pupils
A man born in 1994 stabbed a rival in the thigh as pupils were leaving school in Liège, in front of students. He was arrested shortly afterwards.

According to DHnet, a man named Viny, born in 1994, was arrested on Monday at approximately 15:30 after stabbing a former rival in the thigh near the Saint-Benoît and Saint-Servais schools in Liège, as pupils were leaving school.
The individual had spotted his rival at the location, who was waiting for his own child to leave school. Viny then went to a nearby snack bar and asked to borrow a knife, claiming he needed to cut a thread on his trousers. He left the establishment armed, put on his hood, then returned near his target.
The attack occurred just as pupils were leaving classes. The suspect stabbed his rival in the thigh. The exact circumstances of the act remain to be determined. Part of the scene was filmed by a teenager present at the location.
The victim was treated by emergency services. He had a wound of approximately six centimetres and received a medical certificate attesting to an inability to work for seven days.
When questioned after his arrest, Viny stated that he had not intended to make physical contact with his rival. He claimed that the latter had clenched his fist, and that he had made gestures with the knife for defensive purposes, inadvertently striking the victim.
The suspect was not known to the authorities prior to this incident. The prosecutor's magistrate in Liège decided to send the case to trial.
