In early June, investigators from the Mouscron police zone conducted a search of a house located in the Risquons-Tout neighbourhood, on the French border. They discovered a substantial cannabis plantation there.

The operation was carried out by the Enquiries and Investigations service, which had gathered several clues making it possible to locate the address. Inside the property, officers found 332 cannabis plants under cultivation, accompanied by professional horticultural equipment: artificial lighting, ventilation and charcoal filters.

Law enforcement also seized a telephone and 120 euros in cash. A 25-year-old man was arrested on the spot and placed in provisional detention. The prosecutor forwarded the case to an investigating judge for further proceedings, as reported by La DH (dhnet.be).

The accused is charged with violation of drug legislation. The investigation continues under the direction of the Federal Judicial Police of Mons-Tournai, which will seek to establish whether this case is part of a wider network.

The Risquons-Tout border zone is known to be a privileged trafficking point for illicit traffic, owing to its proximity to France.
