Gatherings against the reform of French-language education in Brussels were marked by acts of violence. Individuals threw homemade explosives, set fires and hurled objects at law enforcement. A woman was assaulted at Mont des Arts whilst attempting to put out flames.
On Thursday and Friday, thousands of people marched through the streets of the capital. Within the demonstration, rioters provoked disturbances. Pyrotechnic devices were used, rubbish containers were set alight and projectiles were directed at police officers. A woman who was attempting to extinguish a fire was violently attacked at Mont des Arts.
On Saturday at around 14:00, a significant police operation was positioned at Central Station. This precautionary measure followed messages circulating on online platforms calling for fresh gatherings. Small groups of individuals dressed in black were spotted in the area. By 14:30, the situation remained calm. No major gathering related to education was planned for that day.
