The Liège prosecutor's office has launched a criminal procedure following the online publication of a sequence showing a motorist filming himself committing an infraction on the city's quays, La DH reports.
The protagonist, a Liège resident, films himself at the wheel. His vehicle reaches 137 km/h on a section limited to 90. At the end of the video, he displays his dashboard. He is also driving without being fastened in.
"It's Sunday, and it's the best day of the year to continue overtaking your competitors and get ahead," he comments before accelerating.
The publication comes amid the trial of Paolo Falzone, responsible for the Strépy-Bracquegnies tragedy. Like Falzone, this driver has a heavy driving record and regularly posts images of him exceeding the speed limit. Such practices raise questions about road safety for users in Liège and expose him to heavy sentences.
