Extensive fraud against Walloon subsidies dismantled: Forem victim for 8.5 million euros
According to lesoir.be, a suspected subsidy fraud has been dismantled in Wallonia, targeting the Forem, the Walloon public employment and training office. More than 150 companies were allegedly involved in this fraudulent scheme, concerning fictitious paid educational leave, for a total loss estimated at 8.5 million euros.
Seven consultants were arrested in the Liège region as part of this investigation. The authorities also carried out spectacular seizures: luxury watches, a Porsche GT3 RS and bundles of banknotes were confiscated.
The amounts wrongfully received will be subject to recovery, the competent authorities confirmed.
