OPZC Rekem silent on possible admission of Horion with electronic tag
Convicted murderer Freddy Horion is reportedly to be admitted to the Public Psychiatric Care Centre (OPZC) in Rekem with an electronic tag, according to hbvl.be. The institution itself states that it does not wish to comment on the reports.
The Public Prosecutor's Office had previously advised against granting an electronic tag to Horion. In a leaked opinion, the prosecutor's office described the 78-year-old as a "ticking time bomb" and stated that the proposed admission would not be sufficiently restricting in terms of preventing reoffending.
Horion's lawyer responded to the leaked opinion and called the course of events without added value. Lawyers and the prosecutor's office disagree with each other over how the case came into the public domain.
