During an operation at twelve shops in Blankenberge, police found and seized more than 560 illegal counterfeit items.

On Wednesday, officers from the local police force Blankenberge/Zuienkerke, together with the municipal authority, carried out a large-scale inspection in a dozen retail businesses along the coast. The operation targeted practices that damage the economy and violate the law.
In three of the inspected establishments, officers discovered a total of 564 counterfeit goods. The majority consisted of fake football shirts of national teams competing in the World Cup, plus clothing items of well-known clubs and individual players. Additionally, imitations of the Labubu brand were discovered, as well as key chains featuring Stitch.
The federal public service for Finance drew up fourteen official reports. Colleagues from the economy department documented three violations regarding incorrect price representation and the use of digital payment methods. In one case, a shop sold medical materials — adhesive plasters — without the necessary authorisation. An official record was also made of this.
A student was also found working without a valid employment contract. Various other violations were noted by the services on site.
