The 2025 results for the Comines-Warneton police zone reveal 1,406 recorded incidents, including a rise in drug-related cases and growing criminality marked by the use of bladed and firearms.

The Comines-Warneton police zone presented its report for 2025 at the municipal council on Monday 8 June. The figures reveal 1,406 total recorded incidents, divided between 583 offences against persons, 555 offences against property, 232 financial offences and 35 other cases. Police officers had to manage 3,088 emergency interventions, 1,532 scheduled operations and handle 4,596 messages.
Cases relating to drugs are experiencing a notable increase, rising from 47 cases in 2024 to 53 in 2025. Thefts and extortions, by contrast, show a slight decline with 347 cases compared to 353 the previous year.
Chief of police Sébastien Dauchy highlighted a concerning development: violence is intensifying on the ground. "Crime is becoming increasingly violent. Before, people would fight with their fists. Now, weapons are used, whether bladed weapons or even firearms," he stated. According to him, this phenomenon is not limited to this police zone but is observed everywhere.
Settling of accounts now breaks out not only for emotional reasons, but also in the context of drug trafficking. The situation is complicated by the border location of the territory, which has 13 kilometres of borders. "With Europe, we have allowed the free movement of goods and people, but we have maintained police and judicial systems that are entirely sovereign... Even if agreements exist, the border remains an advantage for criminals!" the divisional commissioner clarified.
The personnel mobilised to deal with this reality consists of 43 operational police officers, 10 statutory CaLog and 3 contractual CaLog.
