Operation "Safe Move" in Walloon Brabant: 428 checks, 12 drug seizures, two arrests
The federal police conducted an extensive FIPA operation on Wednesday in the stations and public transport of Walloon Brabant. Twelve people were found in possession of narcotics.
Twelve hours of checks in Walloon Brabant stations: results of "Safe Move" operation
According to DHnet, the federal police released on Thursday the results of a large-scale operation conducted on Wednesday across the entire Walloon Brabant district. The action, named "Safe Move" and classified as a FIPA operation (Full Integrated Police Action), began at 7 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m., making twelve hours of checks combining static deployments and dynamic patrols.
In total, 428 people were checked by police officers. Officers also inspected 110 TEC buses as well as 19 other vehicles. At Nivelles station in particular, a dog specialised in narcotics detection was deployed among users. Twelve people were found in possession of drugs. Police also seized 575 euros in cash and a prohibited weapon.
Two arrests were made during the operation: one of a judicial nature, the other administrative.
On the Securail and TEC controller side, approximately 2,700 travellers had their transport tickets verified, which resulted in several fines — the exact number was not specified by the authorities.
The operation aimed at a dual objective: strengthening security in stations, bus stops and public transport, whilst affirming the visible presence of law enforcement on the ground. Approximately one hundred police officers from the ten zones of Walloon Brabant took part in the action, in collaboration with several services of the federal police, including the Brussels railway police, the canine unit and the intervention force of Walloon Brabant.
This was the second FIPA operation organised in 2026. The first, conducted in late March, focused on road safety. The logic remains identical with each edition: intervening simultaneously across the entire district by mobilising all police zones and the federal police. The themes vary according to priorities defined by those in charge. Two further operations of this type are planned before the end of the year.
