A violent outburst in Poppel (Ravels) ended on Thursday evening with a stabbed woman and a seriously injured man. A 27-year-old suspect was charged with attempted murder.

On Thursday evening, a quarrel escalated into two violent incidents in Poppel, a sub-municipality of Ravels. A 44-year-old woman sustained stab wounds at her home on Nieuwstraat. Shortly afterwards, a 54-year-old man was run over multiple times by a car. He remains in critical condition in hospital.
The conflict is reported to have begun earlier that evening at a house on Tilburgsebaan. What exactly preceded events there remains unclear for now. The partner of the female victim, who does not wish to be named, told Nieuwsblad that his wife heard noise at the gate and went to investigate. She was then stabbed repeatedly. Her husband came home when ambulance personnel were already on scene. "I was just able to give her a hand before she was taken away," the husband said.
The female victim is now stable and out of danger. This was confirmed by the Antwerp prosecutor's office via spokesperson Lieselotte Claessens.
The situation escalated further when the couple's 27-year-old son arrived in a vehicle. During this incident, the 54-year-old man was seriously injured. His exact involvement in the conflict is not yet known.
Police arrested three individuals. The 27-year-old son appeared before an investigating magistrate on Saturday and was charged with attempted murder. His lawyer Bart Vosters declined to provide further comment at this time. A 19-year-old youth is still being sought in connection with the stabbing incident. A third arrested man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was released after questioning. He is reported to have attended to the injured woman after the collision and alerted emergency services.
According to the prosecutor's office, everyone who may have been involved in the incidents is part of the ongoing investigation. Footage from a security camera shows part of the events on the driveway. There may be other recordings that could shed further light on how the incident unfolded. The exact cause of the entire conflict remains unclear.
