A man living in Finland has been sentenced in Belgium to twelve years in prison for his involvement in a terrorist group linked to the Islamic State.

A man living in Finland was sentenced this week in Belgium to twelve years in prison for his activities within the terrorist organisation the Islamic State (IS), reports Helsingin Sanomat.
Belgian justice determined that the man was among the leaders of an international terrorist cell. This group was preparing an explosive attack and financing terrorist acts. The authorities do not suspect the man of having planned an attack against Finland. The accused denied all charges before the court.
According to Helsingin Sanomat, Finland's Central Criminal Police (KRP) suspects five men living in Finland of having helped the man sentenced in Belgium. The newspaper met four of them in the Mellunmäki district in Helsinki. These men told the newspaper that they had committed no offences.
