A 56-year-old motorist was held in custody in Wavre following a road accident deliberately caused in Court-Saint-Étienne. The incident took place Friday evening in rue Defalque.
The suspect, who was driving a Ford Fiesta, pursued a Dacia heading towards the centre of the village. He then violently rammed the vehicle multiple times, until it came to a complete stop.
Following this aggressive behaviour, the individual, born in 1969 and living in Wavre, fled by taking the Nationale 25. Law enforcement nevertheless managed to apprehend him shortly afterwards on the chaussée de Bruxelles, in the municipality of Wavre.
The Dacia driver, a man born in 1977 living in Court-Saint-Étienne, sustained no injuries. However, his passenger, a woman born in 1968 and residing in Louvain-la-Neuve, was slightly injured. She was evacuated to the Saint-Pierre clinic in Ottignies. Her health condition is not life-threatening.
